Full Moon in Aries – October 5th
Heqet, the Fertility Goddess of the early dynastic period of Egypt, is often depicted on the amulets of pregnant women as a frog sitting on a lotus. Associated with germination of corn following the flooding of the Nile (when frogs were most prolific,) and with the final stages of childbirth, she is said to breathe the “breath of life” into the bodies of newborn children who are formed on the potter’s wheel of her partner Khnum. It was she who breathed life into Horus, in the myth of Isis and Osiris.
The moonlight is now shining on you as you take your self-confidence and self-awareness to a new level. Is it time for you to take on a new role within your community? Have you developed new knowledge, skills, and qualities that you’re ready to try out? Ask Heqet to assist you through the stages from tadpole to adult, as you lose your tail and develop your sea legs.
New Moon in Libra – October 19th
When the Sun is in Libra
Libra energy gives us the opportunity to bridge the gap between the higher and lower mind; abstract thinking versus concrete thinking. During Libra time, the light and dark forces are in balance and you are given a chance to experience harmony. Harmony occurs when you keep your polarities in motion and put paradox to rest, thus breaking the crystallization of polarity. Now is the time to weigh your values through the light of your Soul. Libra asks you to look at what is increasing and decreasing in your life. Start with friendship, courage, sincerity, and understanding, and keep going until your scale is in motion.
The Black Madonna, is a goddess archetype found all over the world, in her many associations as Isis, Mary Magdalene, Sara, Kali, or Virgin of Guadalupe. She offers up compassion and understanding for the human condition. Black is all colors, completely absorbed, and in her blackness she encompasses all and gives solace and miracles to any seeking comfort. Often depicted with a child in arms, a halo or ring of stars around her head, and a moon at her feet, the Black Madonna is the protectress of those who are marginalized. She is connected seamlessly to Heaven and Earth, as a fully incarnated woman and mother who has known deep sorrow, passion, joy, and love.
Grant her real life experience equal weight with the images of virginal perfection offered up as ideal, and she will help you have compassion for yourself and others experiencing the struggle of living and relating.
