200 hr yoga teacher training

January through May 2020

True Nature Healing Arts is an intentional sanctuary in the heart of the Colorado Rockies for inspiration, connection and self-discovery. Deva and Eaden Shantay created True Nature with passion, heart and soul. You will find this same level of intention in every aspect of this training which offers the tools to receive and share this yogic vision with the students the world over.

What makes this teacher training different? Deva Shantay is a gifted yoga therapist and psychic intuitive. With her guidance, students receive valuable skills in reading individuals and classes. This perspective will enable you to craft classes supporting deeper healing and transformation. This training also provides an introduction to vital practices and philosophies shared in the ancient yogic scriptures, knowledge that will bring meaning to your personal practice and classes. Eaden Shantay has a deep love for these teachings and shares them through his Buddha-like teaching style and contagious laughter. Kerry Kleisner rounds out this strong duo with her charismatic, laid-back, “don’t take it too seriously” attitude. She has a wealth of information and is gifted at sharing the principles of yoga in a simple and practical way. Additional faculty include instructors from True Nature who will share their areas of expertise. This unique and transformation training offers a beautiful synergy of experience and knowledge creating the perfect container to go deep within and discover the teacher you are meant to be.

What to Expect

Have you every wanted to explore the depth of Yoga? This training provides the opportunity to dive into the techniques, lifestyle and practices of yoga, both for personal exploration and for those wishing to teach yoga professionally.

The True Nature 200hr Yoga Teacher Training is a Yoga Alliance® accredited program designed to inspire and cultivate a deeper understanding and connection to the ancient practices of yoga. We at True Nature believe in the phrase “Teach to learn, and learn to Teach”. We must first experience the teachings ourselves through a dedicated personal practice. Once these teachings are embodied, we are then ready to share them consciously and holistically with others.

To receive accreditation with the Yoga Alliance®, you will need to complete the homework and practicum, and maintain full attendance in the training (all 180hrs are required to receive certification). You can then apply for a Yoga Alliance® 200hr RYT certificate.

Hatha Yoga

Hatha refers to the practice of physical yoga postures, including Ashtanga, Vinyasa, Iyengar and Power Yoga classes. “Hatha” the yoga of movement and balance, is a combination of two words: “ha” meaning sun and “tha” meaning moon.

Hatha practices, which include asana (yoga postures) and pranayama (breathing exercises), are designed to align the body and calm the mind in preparation for deeper spiritual practices such as meditation and self-inquiry.

Program Structure

This training meets 1-weekend a month for 5 consecutive months, in the Colorado Rocky Mountains at True Nature Healing Arts, an intentional sanctuary for inspiration, connection, and self-discovery. Throughout each weekend, you will immerse into all the primary aspects of yoga: meditation, yoga asana, breathwork, energy, koshas (layers of our being), chakras (energy centers), doshas (Ayurvedic body types), pranavayus (breath centers), body reading, contemplation and bhakti (devotional practices).

This is a training for someone who is ready to “be seen” as Deva is a practicing intuitive and uses her wisdom to guide students in going deeper. Once we see ourselves, we are then ready to support others on their journey. Days will be filled developing the foundation of your practice and learning through asana, lecture, experiential practices and teaching.

You can expect to spend 3-4 hours a week on homework assignments, required reading, practice teaching and personal practice recommendations. Everyone will be required to maintain a daily meditation and yoga practice both at home and in a studio of your choosing.

Yoga changed Deva’s life. After working in the field of graphic design she found herself lost in the Colorado Mountains almost freezing to death. That experience changed everything for Deva. She walked off that mountain with new purpose and began a life-long journey with yoga.

Her passion took off and immediately she enrolled in a 200hr teacher training from the Eldorado Mountain Yoga Ashram in Boulder, Colorado. Following this, she felt the calling to go deeper into the healing aspect of yoga and discovered Integrative Yoga Therapy where she completed a 1000hr Yoga Therapist Program.

Deva Shantay is a talented visionary endowed with the gift of intuitive sight and her teaching incorporates this vision. She is able to see students and the energy held within their bodies, enabling her to guide them in ways that allow the energy to move freely releasing held blocks, offering deep healing. Her passions include offering intuitive sessions to clients to help them understand the roots of their challenges and ways of actualizing their skills and passions in the world. She is also a gifted artist and a very dedicated mother of two beautiful daughters, Jade and Zayna.

Eaden has been a passionate seeker for over 30 years. In his early twenties, he began exploring Western Psychology and Native American Spirituality. This led to a masters in clinical psychology and Sun Dancing with Lakota’s of Pine Ridge in the lineage of Fools Crow. Twenty years ago, Eaden was introduced to the teachings of non-duality (Advaita Vedanta) via Ramana Maharshi, a revered saint from southern India. This led to studies in Traditional Vedanta, an ancient yogic path of liberation based in the Upanishads and Bhagavad Gita. Eaden is co-founder of True Nature Healing Arts with Deva Shantay, where he shares weekly classes on meditation and Traditional Vedanta and also loves sharing Bhakti yoga through Kirtan music (call and answer chant).

Kerry Kleisner is in her 20th year of teaching yoga and her love for the practice continues to evolve from its humble beginnings as a home meditator with a copy of Mindfulness in Plain English as her guide. Yoga for her is a way to stay strong, stable and flexible; more importantly, on a mental/emotional level, it's a way to dial back the drama, drop into the body, and return to the peaceful flow of mind that we all have the natural capacity to experience. Her appreciation for anatomy, breath work and not taking things too seriously comes through in her teaching style.

Kerry began teaching yoga when she launched a wellness program at a gym in Savannah, GA. Since then, she has studied with Stephanie Keach, Erich Schiffmann, Baron Baptiste and Ana Forest, and received her 500-hour certification through ParaYoga and her teacher Yogarupa Rod Stryker in 2012. Most recently she completed Leslie Kaminoff's Anatomy for Yoga, a 60-hour course designed for yoga teachers aiming to deepen their knowledge of anatomy & physiology. This will be her 4th time serving as an adjunct teacher for True Nature's Yoga Teacher Training Program. Kerry currently works for ParaYoga as its office manager and teaches classes and workshops at True Nature and in the mid-valley. In private sessions, Kerry guides clients through practices that are tailored to their specific needs. In her everyday life, Kerry tries to laugh as often as possible with her teenagers, and if they end up practicing yoga one day, well then, that will just be the icing on the cake.
