Following My True Nature: The Journey Behind the SOULutions App

by Mindy Arbuckle

Sometimes life has a way of guiding us home—not to a place, but to our true nature. For me, that journey has unfolded through yoga, community, and countless quiet moments of remembering. And nowhere has that remembering felt more alive than here at True Nature Healing Arts.

A Journey Home

Yoga first found me in college. I was studying abroad, far from home, trying to balance independence with the weight of expectation. When I returned for my senior year—18 credit hours, three part-time jobs, and a long-distance engagement—yoga became my lifeline. It was the one space where I could breathe and feel like myself again. After graduation, I married my husband, Brian, and we began our lives together in Alaska. Twenty-four years later, we’re still evolving side by side, growing through every season life offers.

Alaska gave me space—not just to get by, but to explore what it felt like to thrive. Yoga anchored me to my inner world and reawakened something sacred within. I didn’t have the words Shiva and Shakti in my vocabulary yet, but I could feel the pulse of that balance between structure and flow, mind and heart, doing and being.

That calling eventually led me to open yoga studios in the Denver Metro area. For sixteen years I led those communities with devotion, learning what it meant to live my yoga in every role—teacher, leader, mother, entrepreneur, and friend. Every relationship, every challenge, every success became part of my practice. Yoga was no longer something I did; it was who I was.

When I sold my studio in early 2020, just before the world paused, it felt like both an ending and a blessing.

The stillness that followed was sacred. It gave me time to listen more deeply—to my body, to Spirit, and to the quiet whisper of my next evolution.

A Fresh Start at True Nature

When my family and I moved to the Roaring Fork Valley in 2019, I continued managing my Denver studio from afar. Even then, I knew that when the time was right to teach in person again, True Nature would be my next home.

I sold my studio in early 2020—just before the world shifted—and that pause became a sacred recalibration. It gave me space to breathe, reflect, and rediscover the teacher I wanted to be. The stillness helped me release old patterns of overgiving and return to the heart of why I began teaching in the first place: to share presence, connection, and love.

After nearly two years away from teaching regular classes, I felt ready to return—but in a new way. When the opportunity arose to take over a class from Deva, one of True Nature’s founders, I knew it was divine timing.

Stepping into the beautiful yoga room at True Nature was like entering a temple of light. No one really knew me or how I taught, which was a gift. For the first time in my teaching career—even after owning my own studios—I felt completely free to be me. I went in with my heart wide open, ready to teach from a more feminine perspective. I wanted to help students embody the wisdom of Shakti—the creative, intuitive life force within us all—whether they identified as women or men.

I began guiding familiar poses in new ways, weaving breath, mantra, and meaning into every sequence. I sang with my harmonium, invited silence, and encouraged students to feel rather than perform. And what amazed me was how accepted I felt. The community didn’t just receive it—they embraced it.

My confidence grew with every class. I could see students awakening to new dimensions of themselves, discovering freedom they hadn’t even known was possible. Teaching here truly feels like a full-circle moment—sharing the wisdom of the heart in a space that so beautifully embodies peace, beauty, and connection.

In those moments, I realized something profound: True Nature isn’t just a place to practice yoga—it’s a living reminder of who we already are.

Connecting to Your True Nature

Take a breath with me now.

Place one hand on your heart and one on your belly.

Let the next inhale arrive softly, without force.

As you exhale, feel the ground supporting you.

Ask yourself:

What does my true nature feel like right now?

Is it stillness, curiosity, warmth, or light?

Or perhaps confidence, creativity, boldness, fierceness, openness—or even the need for rest.

Your true nature itself never changes—it is the steady, radiant essence within you. Yet it continually guides you toward what your body, mind, and spirit need in each moment. It illuminates what your human self needs to feel more in harmony.

The practice is to listen deeply and take spirit-aligned action to honor that inner communication. This is where yoga truly begins: returning to your essence and letting it lead the way. It’s what I aim to nurture in every class and every offering: a return to what’s already whole within you.

An Evolution in Service

Teaching at True Nature reignited my creative spirit. It reminded me that yoga is not confined to four walls—it lives in our breath, our relationships, and how we show up in the world. That insight became the seed for my next creation: the SOULutions App.

Born from over two decades of teaching, SOULutions is a sanctuary you can carry in your pocket—a way to stay connected to your practice and the spirit of True Nature, even when you’re not in the yoga room. Inside, you’ll find guided meditations, mantra practices, movement, and daily inspiration to help you live soulfully and aligned with your highest self.

For our True Nature community, it’s an invitation to keep the flame of practice alive—to breathe, reflect, and remember your true nature anytime, anywhere.

An Invitation to Practice

If you’d like to explore your true nature in person, join me for my Friday 9:00 a.m. class at True Nature. Each week we explore yoga through a fresh, heart-centered lens—familiar postures, yes, but in ways that awaken your body’s innate wisdom and sense of freedom.

And explore all the classes True Nature offers. Every teacher brings a unique flavor of truth and light. Your path is your own—honor it fully. Ask yourself often: What works for me? What doesn’t? What feels true right now?

Let self-inquiry and reflection guide you toward authenticity. None of us have to be the same.
