Psychedelics are rapidly moving from the fringe of society into the center of modern conversations around healing, leadership, consciousness, performance, spirituality, and human transformation. This four-part series explores where these medicines come from, what science is teaching us, how the legal landscape is evolving, and why many believe psychedelics may play an important role in the future of human flourishing. Designed to be evidence based, experiential, and accessible to both the naive and experienced, this series helps participants build a clear, nuanced understanding of one of the most important cultural shifts of our time.

History: 10,000 Years of Psychedelic Use
Long before psychedelics entered modern medicine, they were used for thousands of years across every continent by civilizations as tools for healing, divination, community, and leadership. This session explores the deep historical roots of psychedelic use, from Indigenous ceremonial traditions, helping participants understand how humanity’s relationship with altered states has shaped religion, culture, meaning-making, and human development across time.

Research: The Western Scientific Understanding of Psychedelics
Over the last several decades, researchers, clinicians, and neuroscientists have begun developing a modern scientific understanding of how psychedelics impact the brain, body, behavior, trauma, depression, addiction, consciousness, and human perception. This session explores the rise, collapse, and resurgence of psychedelic research, examining both the promise and limitations of current science while helping participants understand what researchers actually know — and what remains uncertain — about these powerful substances.

Policy: The Legal Landscape of Psychedelics in Colorado + Beyond
As laws rapidly evolve across Colorado and the United States, confusion around what is legal, regulated, decriminalized, therapeutic, or prohibited remains widespread. This session provides a grounded overview of the Natural Medicine Health Act, Colorado’s emerging legal framework, state and federal tensions, ethical considerations, and the practical realities of participating in psychedelic work safely, responsibly, and legally in this new era of access.

Leadership: Psychedelics and Human the Transformation of Human Consciousness
As interest in psychedelics expands beyond clinical healing, new conversations and research are emerging around leadership, creativity, relationships, performance, spirituality, pro-sociality, and collective transformation. This session explores how psychedelics when paired with coaching, and intentional community design may support greater self-awareness, courage, connection, and human flourishing — and what role these tools could play in shaping the future of leadership, culture, environmentalism, and society itself.

Skippy Mesirow serves as the founder of SANCTUM Aspen, recognized as the leading psychedelic healing center for leaders and changemakers located in Aspen, Colorado, and is the architect of The COURAGE METHOD™, a framework for transformational leadership. With a background as an Aspen City Council member and a leader in statewide and presidential campaigns, Skippy has empowered more than 1,000 public and nonprofit leaders through the Civic Courage Lab.
