Generosity Rate $120 | Standard Rate $88 | Community Rate $62

A storytelling workshop and live mythological performance

We are thrilled to welcome back The ReMemberers — a ritual theatre and storytelling trio — for a day-long immersion in folklore and myth!

1:30-4:30pm: Mythic Storytelling Workshop | Kiva

We begin with an afternoon workshop unfolding the woven threads that elevate a narrative from story to myth. Working with the five layers of Mayan storytelling, we'll observe how a traditional tale becomes medicine once all five layers are in play — and how, when they sound together like notes in a chord, the listening itself becomes a form of initiation.

We'll explore how folk tales conjure deep shadow work, how the listener and the teller enter a compact of reflective energy, and how a single story can hold an individual, a community, and an age all at once. We'll investigate a curious somatic truth: that our capacity to be surprised by the never-encountered and our shiver of recognition at gestures we've always known are two sides of the same experience — and that myth lives precisely where they meet.

Most of all, this afternoon prepares us to receive, in the fullest possible way, the medicine of the myth that will be shared that evening

4:30-6:00pm: Nourishment Break (dinner not included)

6:00-8:00pm: FIREBIRD Live Performance | Kiva

After dinner The ReMemberers will perform THE FIREBIRD, a thousand-year-old Russian folktale as living ceremony — ninety minutes of mythic storytelling carried on a river of sound. Violet Southard's numinous voice moves through ancestral song traditions from across the world. John de Kadt summons the story's heartbeat through handpan, kanjira, cajón, and water drums and his legendary storytelling. Alex Harvey weaves the tale through melodic instruments gathered from the edges of the earth: Satar, harmonium, baglama, bandolim.

This is not a performance about oral tradition. It is oral tradition itself: a tale carried in the same unbroken lineage it has always traveled, told in a room where people gather to listen as one body.

The story:

In a forest gone silent, a young Huntsman finds a single golden feather blazing on the path before him — a feather shed from the burning breast of the Firebird, the most extraordinary creature in all the world. Against the counsel of his Horse of Power — the voice of his own deepest knowing — he takes it. And from that one moment of ambition, everything unravels.

Task by task, a tyrannical ruler — the ego made sovereign — escalates his demands, and the Huntsman stumbles deeper into complicity, one compromise at a time, each smaller and more reasonable than the last, until he can no longer remember where his own will ended and the tyrant's began. All the while the caged Firebird watches from the courtyard with eyes full of impossible light. And all the while something calls from a far horizon in his heart: a longing to know what lies underneath everything.

Courage won't be enough to answer that call. Neither will serenity. Only a willingness to be completely undone.

8:00-9:30pm: Integrative AfterFire | Peace Garden Fire Circle

Perhaps the most essential element of the day comes last. As night settles, performers and guests gather at the bonfire to feed the story — the old practice of giving something back to a tale that has given itself to us. Here the afternoon's work meets the evening's transmission: the five layers, still humming, held now in a small community that did not exist this morning.

There is no analysis at the fire, no interpretation demanded. We simply speak from what moved through us — an image that lodged, a moment that burned, a recognition we didn't expect — and let the story turn slowly in the light, showing its faces. What the Huntsman surrendered, what the Firebird watched, what the cauldron asked: these become ours to hold now, together.

An hour of fire, story, and company — the oldest form of integration there is.

MEET YOUR GUIDES: The ReMemberers

The ReMemberers are a multidisciplinary trio weaving ritual storytelling, global song, and multi-instrumental virtuosity into an experience that feels part theater, part concert, part ceremony. Violet Southard’s numinous voice, Alex Harvey’s resonant strings, and John de Kadt’s percussive tale-telling create an atmosphere where ancient myths breathe again — told, sung, and drummed into presence.

Each gathering begins with an inherited wisdom tale and unfolds as a journey inward. Musical traditions from across the planet converge in this awakening of ancient folklore. The ReMemberers, in partnership with their audience, rekindle one of humanity’s oldest customs: coming together to listen, imagine, and be transformed.

The ReMemberers ARE:

Alex Harvey
