Join us for a magical evening and a mythical performance, carried along on a river of sound: THE FIREBIRD, a thousand-year-old Russian folktale performed as living ceremony through ancestral voice, world percussion, and instruments from the edges of the earth.

We are thrilled to welcome backThe ReMemberers — a ritual theatre and storytelling trio — for a magical evening of folklore and myth.

6:00-8:00pm: FIREBIRD Live Performance | Kiva

The ReMemberers will perform THE FIREBIRD, a thousand-year-old Russian folktale as living ceremony — ninety minutes of mythic storytelling carried on a river of sound. Violet Southard's numinous voice moves through ancestral song traditions from across the world. John de Kadt summons the story's heartbeat through handpan, kanjira, cajón, and water drums and his legendary storytelling. Alex Harvey weaves the tale through melodic instruments gathered from the edges of the earth: Satar, harmonium, baglama, bandolim.

This is not a performance about oral tradition. It is oral tradition itself: a tale carried in the same unbroken lineage it has always traveled, told in a room where people gather to listen as one body.

The story:

In a forest gone silent, a young Huntsman finds a single golden feather blazing on the path before him — a feather shed from the burning breast of the Firebird, the most extraordinary creature in all the world. Against the counsel of his Horse of Power — the voice of his own deepest knowing — he takes it. And from that one moment of ambition, everything unravels.

Task by task, a tyrannical ruler — the ego made sovereign — escalates his demands, and the Huntsman stumbles deeper into complicity, one compromise at a time, each smaller and more reasonable than the last, until he can no longer remember where his own will ended and the tyrant's began. All the while the caged Firebird watches from the courtyard with eyes full of impossible light. And all the while something calls from a far horizon in his heart: a longing to know what lies underneath everything.

Courage won't be enough to answer that call. Neither will serenity. Only a willingness to be completely undone.

We also invite you to deep dive with the trio earlier in the day, workshopping the five layers of Mayan storytelling, and stay late night for integration around the fire!

MEET YOUR GUIDES: The ReMemberers

The ReMemberers are a multidisciplinary trio weaving ritual storytelling, global song, and multi-instrumental virtuosity into an experience that feels part theater, part concert, part ceremony. Violet Southard’s numinous voice, Alex Harvey’s resonant strings, and John de Kadt’s percussive tale-telling create an atmosphere where ancient myths breathe again — told, sung, and drummed into presence.

Each gathering begins with an inherited wisdom tale and unfolds as a journey inward. Musical traditions from across the planet converge in this awakening of ancient folklore. The ReMemberers, in partnership with their audience, rekindle one of humanity’s oldest customs: coming together to listen, imagine, and be transformed.

The ReMemberers ARE:

Alex Harvey

Filmmaker, musician, and folklorist Alex Harvey creates mythic performance works that blend storytelling, global music, and theatre. His films include Walden: Life in the Woods starring Demián Bichir, I Am A Seagull, The Unsilent Picture, and space//space. A multi-instrumentalist and composer he performs with many projects all over the country.

Violet Southard

Singer, songwriter, and voice ceremonialist Violet Southard channels haunting vocal traditions drawn from nature and ancestral song. Her work explores sound as a pathway to reflection and transformation. Alongside performing internationally with The ReMemberers, she facilitates sound-based healing practices for individuals and groups.

John de Kadt

Percussionist, poet, and storyteller John de Kadt blends world percussion, spoken word, and mythic storytelling into edgeless performance. His five albums have over 130 million streams worldwide. Founder of BlessFest and former member of The Hanumen, he has shared performances internationally for more than twenty-five years, collaborating with Krishna Das, Mickey Hart, and Robert Bly.
