Breathwork, mindful movement, and practical education to help you feel confident and prepared for birth and beyond.
This comprehensive childbirth class prepares you for every stage of the birth journey.
We’ll explore how your body works during labor, the physiology of birth, and how to support yourself through each step. You’ll learn practical tools for coping, understand medical options, and build a postpartum plan that supports a smoother transition after baby arrives.
Topics include:
• Childbirth Overview & Stages of Labor: Understand the full arc of labor - from early signs to active labor, transition, pushing, and delivery. Learn how your uterus, hormones, and instincts work together to bring your baby into the world.
• Your Body Is Built for Birth: Learn about nourishment, movement, mindset, and preparation, so your body can birth this baby. We’ll discuss supportive exercises, optimal fetal positioning, nutrition, and ways to work with - not against - the process.
• Coping Tools for Labor: Breathing techniques, positioning, partner support, touch and massage, movement, hydrotherapy, visualization, and pain-coping strategies for each stage of labor.
• Medical Interventions & Options: A balanced overview of inductions, epidurals, monitoring, pain medication, and common interventions—what they are, when they’re used, and how to make informed decisions.
• Pushing, Placenta, and Immediate Postpartum: What to expect during the pushing stage, how the placenta is delivered, postpartum Pitocin, and what happens during the first “golden hours” after birth.
• Newborn Medications & Procedures: Vitamin K, eye ointment, newborn screenings, and what to expect in the first hours with your baby.
• Postpartum Planning: Build a plan for recovery, support, feeding, rest, visitors, and household rhythms. Learn how to prepare emotionally and physically for the fourth trimester.Registration includes both the birthing person and their support partner. Please wear comfortable clothing and come ready to move and practice techniques together.
MEET YOUR GUIDES: Janet Persson and Kaja
Janet Persson is a prenatal yoga instructor, CAPPA-trained birth educator, DONA birth doula, and mama to a spirited mountain girl. Janet has supported women and families as they move through pregnancy, birth, and the fourth trimester with more ease, confidence, and connection.
Born and raised in Germany, I now call the Colorado mountains home. My work blends movement, breath, somatic awareness, and heartfelt education – all rooted in the belief that every woman carries innate wisdom and deserves deeply nurturing, empowering care. Becoming a mother myself reshaped everything I teach and offer, reminding me how profoundly transformative this season can be.
Alongside my perinatal work, I am also a certified ski teacher in Aspen/Snowmass, primarily serving children and mothers. Teaching skiing has strengthened my understanding of body mechanics, safety, and nervous system regulation – skills that naturally complement my prenatal and postpartum support.
My background spans both the wellness world and the academic world, with an MBA in Corporate Finance and undergraduate degrees in Management and Service Design. This combination allows me to hold space with both intuition and structure, offering grounded, evidence-informed support.
Since Summer 2025, I’ve had the joy of collaborating closely with Kaja and KLR Baby. Our shared values, approach, and mission – to offer compassionate, evidence-based, deeply personalized support to families – align beautifully. Together, we’re weaving offerings that honor the physical, emotional, and spiritual dimensions of the perinatal journey. We also have exciting new programs and collaborations planned for the coming months and years.
Located in the beautiful Roaring Fork Valley, CO. I offer in-person services in Aspen, Snowmass, Basalt, Carbondale and surrounding areas, with remote options available for families near and far.
Kaja is a midwife, nurse, doula, lactation consultant, and mom of two. Kaja has had the privilege of supporting families since 2009. Over the years, Kaja has walked alongside thousands of parents through the transformative experiences of pregnancy, birth, and early parenthood.
Kaja’s academic journey began with an undergraduate degree from Seattle University, followed by a Master's in Midwifery from Marquette University. These foundations, combined with continuous education and hands-on experience, ensure that I bring both evidence-based knowledge and heartfelt understanding to every family I work with.
At KLR Baby Aspen, my mission is to provide personalized guidance that respects your unique values and choices. Whether you're planning to conceive, navigating pregnancy, preparing for birth, or adjusting to life with a newborn, I'm here to offer clarity, confidence, and compassionate care.
